Aquability provides expert-led Aquatic Therapy and Exercise programs tailored to individuals of all ages and abilities. We specialize in therapy, rehabilitation and fitness using water-based methods to support motor development, coordination, pain relief, and overall well-being.

Our programs are designed for children and adults. 

Aquatic Therapy and Exercise are suitable for individuals of all ages and fitness levels.

You can book a session through our SimplyBook.me platform by selecting your preferred date and time. Once booked, you will receive a confirmation email with the next steps. 

We understand that plans change.  Yes, you can reschedule or cancel your booking at least 24 hours before your session without any charge.

Changes or cancellations made after this period will not be refunded.

If you do not show up for your session without 24-hour prior cancellation, the session will not be refunded.

If you cancel at least 24 hours before your session, you are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made after this period are non-refundable.

Initial assessment: £80

(includes consultation, goal setting, and first session)

Follow up 30-minute session: £55

Follow up 45-minute session: £75

Yes, full payment is required to secure your booking. This helps us manage our schedule effectively.

We accept credit/debit cards, PayPal and bank transfers. Payments can be made at the time of booking or before your session.

Please bring:

  1. Swimsuit or appropriate swimwear
  2. Towel
  3. Non-slip pool shoes (recommended for safety)
  4. Swim cap (if you have long hair)
  5. Bottle of water to stay hydrated
  6. Any necessary medical equipment (e.g. braces, waterproof prosthetics)

Your comfort is our priority. If you prefer more coverage, you can wear: A Swim shirt, Swim leggings or modest swimwear, a lightweight cover-up before and after the session

Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes before your session to allow time for changing and preparation. If it Is your first session, we recommend arriving 20 minutes earlier to complete any paperwork and discuss your goals.

To avoid discomfort, we recommend:

A light meal at least 2 2 hours before your session and main meal at least 3 hours before your session.

Avoiding heavy meals right before your session

Feeling nervous is completely normal! Our sessions are designed to be gentle, supportive, and adapted to your comfort level.

Bring a supportive friend or family member if that helps you feel more at ease

If you need help changing, please let us know in advance so we will try to arrange appropriate support for you. If you require a carer or family member assistance, they are welcome to accompany you.

Yes, caregivers or family members are welcome to assist with changing and observe the session from the poolside if needed. However, they do not enter the water unless necessary for support.

Once you are changed and ready you will be guided to the poolside, where your therapist will wait and go over the session plan with you. We ensure a safe and supportive environment at all times.

No! Swimming experience is not required. We provide full support and guidance, ensuring you feel safe and comfortable at all times.

The pool can be 30-34°C , ideal for therapy, exercise and rehabilitation.

The depth varies, but we ensure it is safe and accessible for all clients, whether standing or floating with support. Hoist might be used for safety entry and exit from the water if needed.

Sessions last 30 or 45 minutes, depending on your booking.

Your therapist will guide and support you throughout the session.

The exercises and therapy methods will be tailored to your needs, abilities, and goals. 

We use various Aquatic therapy techniques and evidence -based methods such as AquaStretch, Water-Specific Therapy, Bad Ragaz Ring Method, Watsu and Aqua Fitness to ensure the best possible results.

You do not need prior swimming experience we will support and guide you through every step.

We tailor our approach to your individual needs and goals. We guide and support you all the time during the session.

Our methods include:

  • Water-Specific Therapy For mobility, strength and pain relief
  • Bad Ragaz Ring Method For muscle re-education and strength
  • Watsu (Water Shiatsu)  For relaxation and passive stretching
  • AquaStretch  For pain management and flexibility
  • Aqua Fitness  For cardiovascular fitness and endurance

After your session, you may feel:

Relaxed and refreshed

A slight increase in flexibility and mobility

Some muscle fatigue, especially after the first few sessions (this is normal!)

We recommend taking time to rehydrate and avoid strenuous activity immediately after your session.

 

The frequency of sessions depends on your individual goals, condition, and progress. Some clients benefit from weekly sessions, while others may attend twice a week or fortnightly. We can discuss a suitable plan during your initial assessment.

While Aquatic Therapy is safe for most people, there are certain medical conditions where participation may not be advised. If you are unsure, please consult your doctor before booking a session or contact us to help.

Contraindications (Aquatic Therapy is NOT recommended in these cases):

  • Uncontrolled epilepsy, due to the risk of seizures in water.
  • Unstable cardiac conditions Including severe heart failure, recent heart attack, or uncontrolled hypertension.
  • Uncontrolled respiratory conditions, such as severe COPD or uncontrolled asthma.
  • Open wounds, skin infections, or contagious conditions Including MRSA, athlete foot, or other infectious skin diseases.
  • Fever or active systemic infection Aquatic therapy should be avoided if you have an illness causing fever or body aches.
  • Severe incontinence (without appropriate management) If you have bowel or bladder incontinence and cannot use protective swimwear.
  • Severe kidney disease If you have an unmanaged condition that may be affected by fluid balance changes in warm water.
  • Unstable fractures or post-surgical restrictions Until cleared by a doctor.
  • Severe behavioral or cognitive impairments If they pose a safety risk without adequate supervision or support.
  • Pregnancy Generally safe, but a doctors approval is recommended, especially in high-risk pregnancies.
  • Diabetes Those with diabetes should monitor blood sugar levels before and after sessions, as warm water can affect glucose levels.
  • Recent surgery Participation depends on healing progress and surgeon approval.
  • Compromised immune system Clients undergoing chemotherapy or with immune-related conditions should consult a doctor due to potential exposure risks.
  • High or low blood pressure Sudden temperature changes in water can affect circulation; doctor approval may be needed.

If you have any of the conditions above, please let us know in advance. We will assess your suitability for aquatic therapy and work closely with you (and your healthcare provider if needed) to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Some insurance plans may partially or fully cover Aquatic Therapy, depending on your provider and medical condition. We recommend checking with your insurance company for details.
