Ioannis Mirmigkidis is an expert in Aquatic Therapy and Exercise, with a background in Physical Education and Sports Science, specializing in swimming. He is qualified in a range of aquatic methods, including the Water Specific Therapy (WST)_ Halliwick, Paediatric Water Specific Therapy,  Bad Ragaz Ring Method, AquaStretch UK, WATSU and Aqua Fitness. His qualifications come from esteemed organizations, including the Aquatic Rehabilitation and Exercise Academy (A.R.E.A.) in the UK, the International Aquatic Therapy Faculty (IATF), and the Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association (WABA).

Since 2010, Ioannis has worked as an Aquatic Therapy and Exercise specialist, delivering tailored interventions for children and adults with behavioural, emotional, sensory, developmental, physical, and neurological conditions. His career has taken him to swimming pools and rehabilitation centers in both Greece and the UK, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of professionals.

Since moving to the UK in 2019, he has worked with A.R.E.A., delivering specialist Aquatic Therapy sessions and workshops. He is also the founder of Aquability, a dedicated service to help children and adults reach their full potential through water-based therapy and exercise.

For Ioannis, water is more than just a medium it is a powerful therapeutic tool that inspires exploration, movement and neurodevelopmental training. His approach focuses on using the properties of water to support, challenge, and retrain the body and brain, enabling individuals to build strength, coordination, and confidence in an engaging and adaptive environment.

Aquatic Bodywork, Method : WATSU 

(Water Shiatsu) is primarily an Aquatic bodywork technique which can be incorporated into Aquatic Therapy for therapeutic benefits.
It involves passive stretching, joint mobilization and gentle cradling movements performed in warm water. The practitioner supports and moves the recipient through the water in a flowing, rhythmic manner, promoting deep relaxation, improved flexibility, pain relief, and reduced muscle tension.
